6INT. KLÓI'S WORKSHOP – MORNING *6
Pegboards of wrenches. Jars of fittings, each labelled. On the table, a brass kettle on a brass timer. *
On the wall, his mother's recipe card: fish stew, a good pinch of SAFFRON. *
The framed photograph hangs perfectly straight. *
KLÓI comes in. *
Two lobsters, one brass-eyed. Two cups. One pair of claws is steady. *
A chair scrapes. Under the floorboards, something rings like brass. *
THE OTHER KLÓI: Sit down. I'll make tea.
KLÓI sits. The kettle takes four minutes. *
THE TEA
In a kitchen exactly like Klói's, with saffron on the recipe card and the photograph hanging straight, another Klói with steady claws makes tea.
You play Klói. He comes in from the hall. The arrow keys, A and D, or a click on the floor walk him; SIT DOWN sits him on his chair, STAND UP gets him up. When he sits, the kettle goes on: it takes four real minutes.
The board offers it sooner. Say yes, and the tea is perfect and nobody speaks. Wait, and the two of them argue in a way neither can win. They both remember her.
As you leave, he sets a cup back on the shelf and tries to make his claws shake.
PULL BACK, out of the window.
