TIDEFLAT, back to the harbour

TIDEFLAT · shooting script
A street of black houses, brightly lit from above.

4EXT. FLATEYRI – THE STREET – MORNING *4

Golden morning, lit from straight above, like a ceiling with a bulb. *

One street, harbour to mountain road. Tarred black houses, turf roofs. Garðar's house is the yellowest.

The co-op's gilt reads backwards from the street, and right only from inside. *

On Bjarki's roof a cod-shaped vane points east, into the wind. *

PIP, brass-eyed, ties a bowline on the ridge in exactly four seconds, every time. *

Every door is shut, and fits its frame perfectly. *

THE TOUR, IN THE COPY

In this Flateyri Garðar gives the same tour, word for word: the gilded lettering, the cod pointing west, the bracing west wind, the beam crossing left to right.

Around him the lettering reads backwards, the cod points east, the wind blows from the east and the beam crosses right to left. Garðar is exactly the same. He always is.

THE HARBOUR is back along the shore, to the right. THE TOUR, if Garðar is asked. PULL BACK returns through the door.
