TIDEFLAT, back to the harbour

TIDEFLAT · shooting script
A puppet repair room. Wooden benches, armature stands with tiny clamps, egg boxes of miniature faces, a turntable, a lit magnifier on an arm, a small monitor on a shelf.

3BINT. THE SALT HOUSE – THE PUPPET HOSPITAL – CONTINUOUS3B

Puppets on stands under a magnifier. Egg boxes of tiny replacement faces. A turntable. A monitor plays old puppet tests.

Overnight, a brass inspection unit arrived, with a painted sun-face. The note on it says: It was free.

It has pinned a typed ticket to every puppet. Klói's reads: CLAWS UNSTEADY · BUTTONS MISMATCHED · CAP OFF-CENTER. RECOMMEND: STABILIZE.

CAPTION: Bastien M., puppet surgeon.

BASTIEN: The tremble wears through his wrists first. We keep spares.

NOTHING TO FIX

A brass inspection unit has pinned a ticket to each of the eleven puppets: claws unsteady, a sash crooked, a tusk cracked, a cup chipped, a letter k unsteady.

For each one you can pull the lever, FIX, or stamp LEAVE IT in red ink.

A fixed puppet goes smooth and moves in step with the others. Garðar's ticket says no faults found.

At the end the unit prints its count, and you pocket one of Klói's mismatched buttons.

NOTHING TO FIX: fix a fault, or leave it. ABOUT THIS FILM. PULL BACK returns to the studio.
